Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is the second largest fire service in the country, covering nearly 500 square miles, with a population of over 2.5 million people. Within that area we have 41 fire stations, around 2,400 staffÂ… and right at the heart of everything is our main headquarters, based in Swinton.
We are looking for a special, highly motivated and results-driven individual who can use all their determination and ability to make a big impact on a newly established team. As well as managing the smooth operation of our information systems, you will promote their features and benefits to all stakeholders, keep abreast of industry advances, plus ensure that security, control and quality standards are met at all times.
This is an important opportunity, whether you are a recently qualified graduate with the relevant ICT skills and qualifica! tions, or you are looking to take that next vital step in your! career.
You will need:
• Education to Graduate level
• Formal qualification in a computer-related discipline or equivalent
• Experience of administration and management of a variety of Systems in an ICT or Performance Management environment
• Experience loading and testing new software prior to distribution
• Experience identifying system problems and providing fault resolutions
• Experience providing technical support and guidance in system use
• Proficiency in SQL or SQL-style report writing and utility functions, Microsoft Office and other ICT applications
• Experience working in a systems administration, ICT or performance management environment
• Ability to identify and support bespoke training to non-ICT users
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
