Within the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier Platform Support Team there is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Supportability Engineer to be based at the Rosyth shipbuilding site.
Key Responsibilities:
The postholder will join an existing Aircraft Carrier Alliance team of on-site Supportability Engineers conducting practical maintainability checks of installed systems and structures onboard both ships during the build phase, to ensure that the approved supportability design intent (eg removal routes, maintenance envelopes and accessibility) has been realised and maintained during the ship build and equipment installation phases for HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, raising non-conformance or design query reports as required.
You will provide specialist supportability-engineering advice to the wider Platform and shipbuilding team for specific allocate! d systems. This role will be one of 5 Supportability Engineers! currently undertaking similar tasks across different areas of the QEC Platform design.
The postholder will also conduct supportability build surveillance reviews to match design intent with as-built configurations and act as lead Supportability Engineer where required, providing a central point of expertise and contact for support issues pertaining to those systems.
Skills Required:
Understanding of UK Naval Engineering and ship building/repair or refitting practices.
Practical understanding of UK Naval ship in-service maintenance practices.
Ability to liaise with technical design teams on a wide range of platform (marine engineering) systems to gather data for supportability analysis and provide feedback on practical design issues.
