Waiter/Waitress responsibilities include:

  • Taking customer orders accurately, delivering food and beverages to the table efficiently
  • Making menu recommendations, answering questions, and sharing additional information with restaurant patrons
  • Providing excellent customer service to ensure satisfaction
  • Barista skills would be beneficial, but not essential as training can be provided.

Job brief

We are seeking a skilled Waiter or Waitress to join our growing friendly team at The Palm House. Your main duties will be to take orders and deliver food and beverages to our customers.

The ideal applicant would ideally have previous hospitality experience, being able to engage confidently with customers, keep a level head in service and work well among the team. We are looking for someone with a bubbly personality, a can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills. If you can perform well in a fast-paced environment, we’d like to meet you!

The Palm House is open 7 days a week, primarily as a busy day time restaurant. However, you will need to be flexible with availability as evening work will be required on occasion for our ever-growing private hire events

The Palm House is a unique and fast growing dining venue and experience within the Farnham area. The successful applicant will be joining an already proven and successful hospitality team.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort customers to their tables
  • Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
  • Set up tables including silverware and glasses
  • Inform customers about the daily specials
  • Offer menu recommendations upon request
  • Up-sell additional products when appropriate
  • Take accurate food and drinks orders
  • Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff
  • Serve food and drink orders
  • Deliver checks and collect bill payments
  • Follow all relevant health department regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests
  • Working as a team to deliver an outstanding customer experience

Requirements and skills

  • A passion for the industry enabling you to offer exceptional customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Active listening and effective communication skills
  • Team spirit
  • Flexibility to work in shifts (primarily day-time)
  • Food Safety Training would be a plus but training can be provided.
  • Alongside the daily service, we also run events in the evening, so some flexibility with hours is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £10.50-£13.42 per hour
