Contract Senior / Principal Hardware Engineer - RF / Microwave and Design, DSP Edinburgh Contract Senior / Principal Hardware Engineer - RF / Microwave and Design, DSP - A well known defence company is looking for a Contract Senior / Principal Hardware Engineer - RF / Microwave and Design, DSP at its site in Edinburgh to be responsible for the integration and production support work for the Captor Radar Receiver product families. Contract Senior / Principal Hardware Engineer - RF / Microwave and Design, DSP Responsibilities -
- Leading design improvement and enhancement activities, problem and defect resolution, support to production, UPC reduction, design out of obsolescence, and other areas of product development and integration.
- Act as an interface between main equipment development, test equipment development, and production, ensuring alignment of these activities.
- Provide key technical support in the development of bids and proposals.
- Collate and present lessons learned on current production programmes for the benefit of new product development
- First or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Broad based knowledge of radar systems and / or a proven track record of leading significant RF/Mixed Signal development in a related sphere.
- Ideally the candidate would have recent practical experience of identifying and resolving design margin and manufacturability issues in high complexity mixed RF/Digital systems.
- It is essential that the candidate has significant practical electronic equipment development experience.
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is also essential -
- Microwave and RF design and development
- Digital signal processing techniques
- High performance ADCs
- Military airborne avionics design and development techniques.
- Diagnosing hardware faults
- Determining design margin
- MathCAD or Matlab is essential.
- Ability to understand component specifications and SRI/LRI specifications.
- Experience of using digital/analogue/RF test equipment is essential.
- Experience of MIL STD 1553 Bus is desirable.
- Knowledge of VEETest/ATLAS is desirable.
