Middleware Technician - MQ Series

For complete informations about this position opportunity kindly see the descriptions. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MQSeries Technician within the SD Storage and Middleware team. The successful candidate will be part of team delivering and supporting ! IBM MQSeries infrastructure solutions to support Business projects. To succeed in this technical role, you’ll need to have some experience of working with the IBM MQSeries product and be confident in analysing and solving technical issues. Experience of working on the IBM z mainframe platform would also be desirable but not essential. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and different levels.
Core Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the delivery and technical support of IBM MQSeries solutions to meet the agreed standards for the environment. Provide input into the
improvement of services and processes and the mitigation of risks associated
with the environment, whilst ensuring any service or cost improvements are identified.
Accountabilities:
Install and maintain MQSeries products and services according to Group s! tandards and policies, and to agreed service levels
Delive! ry of MQSeries components for business projects
Provision of technical support (including incident and problem resolution) for systems and processes in complex environments
Accountable for the support of complex MQSeries environments to tight timescales.
MQ SSL certificate renewals
Working closely with key Stakeholders
Work collaboratively across the wider MQSeries and Interoperability team to develop, promote and implement technical and process initiatives.
Ensure processes and procedures are strictly adhered to
Identify and implement improvements to technical processes and toolsets to improve resource and cost efficiency
Identify and remediate risks associated with the environment
Key Capabilities/ Knowledge:
Technical knowledge of the environment and associated technologies and the related standards and policies used to govern these technologies
Knowledge of the technical and operational processes used to deploy, su! pport and maintain the technical infrastructure and/or business application services
Diagnostic skills and an ability to analyse technical information from multiple sources, allowing the provision of highly effective solutions in complex environments
Strong quality and service focus
Experience in delivering complex projects and / or incident recoveries
Ability to identify and drive technology and process improvements
Experience of operating in a Service Delivery environment with good understanding of frameworks and processes
Proven systematic and analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to implement effective business solutions
Good communication skills (oral and written)
Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills
Role Specific Capabilities / Knowledge:
Be capable of performing most if not all of the following :
24x7 production support via rota, Service Improvements, Monitoring and Alerting ! improvements, Managing risk, Strategy and Roadmap, Capacity and Perform! ance,
Business project delivery - whole lifecycle, Dev/Test support - also out of hours if projects request it, New version upgrades, Patching production platforms, Patching the
Dev/Test, Pre-prod, etc, route to live platforms, Supporting patching undertaken by other teams on the underlying infrastructure.
Demonstrable working experience on the following technologies would be ideal:
IBM Websphere MQSeries on z/OS and/or Unix and/or Windows.
