We are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral Research Fellow to work on a 2 year project developing data-driven models for enhancing situational awareness. This project is part of a joint research programme with SELEX-Galileo UK aimed at creating an intelligent architecture for unmanned aerial systems. The post holder will be responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating an intelligent software tool with inferential capabilities that can be integrated into the architecture.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD or be close to submitting a PhD thesis in computing or a strongly related discipline. Strong programming skills are required together with a sound understanding of instrumentation/control systems and statistical data analysis. Experience with artificial intelligence, in particular computational intelligence, machine learning or data mining is desirable. They should also be self-motivated with the ability to work independently to tight deadlines within a dynamic environment. A genuine enthusiasm is needed for tackling and solving problems with a practical hands-on approach. The post holder will be working closely with the company, as well as with the collaborating academic institutions, and must possess good interpersonal and communication skills. The project will be based predominantly at the IDEAS Research Institute at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen
