About us

An Lanntair (Gaelic for The Lantern or The Beacon)is one of the most dynamic and creative small arts centres in Scotland and a key asset for the cultural and economic life of the Outer Hebrides. Based in our magnificent, purpose built arts centre in Stornoway town centre, we have a committed team of staff who provide access to local, national and international art, music, theatre, cinema and other creative and cultural content for the island population and visitors, and run a vibrant educational outreach and skills development programme.

With the support of our funding partners; Creative Scotland, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, we are embarking on the next exciting phase of our development and have established “An Lanntair 2020”; an 18 month programme to renew our creative mission! and establish the organisational arrangements needed for our ! continued success.

About the role

The Transition Project Director role has been specifically created for our 2020 Programme to augment the creative talent of our staff with the specialist strategic planning and change management skills needed for this ambitious development programme.

The Transition Project Director will be responsible for developing and managing the process by which the new creative mission is developed, identifying the changes that will be needed within the organisation to successfully deliver that mission, and then effectively manage the implementation of this change.

Our preferred option is for the role to be full time but we may consider alternatives for an exceptional candidate.

Consideration may also be given to a secondment arrangement or other innovative approaches that would bring the full range of skills required for the role while ensuring there is a core lead individual on site for the duration of the! contract.

About you

To succeed in this senior leadership role, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate that you have the expertise in strategic planning, organisational review and change management that we need. You’ll be great at working with staff and stakeholders at all levels and have the confidence to challenge our thinking and practices. You’ll love getting the best out of people and supporting them through change.

You’ll also be motivated by the opportunity to work in the one of the most beautiful and remote parts of the country.
