The Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh
£55-65,000.00 per annum, plus other benefits! The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official residence of Her Majesty The Queen in Scotland, a site of great national historical significance. In addition to being a working Palace, it is one of Scotland's premier visitor attractions. Home to some of the finest works in the Royal Collection, the Palace is open throughout the year and draws over 250,000 visitors annually. This dual role of Superintendent and Visitor Manager offers a truly unique and varied opportunity for an exceptional leader with a pragmatic and enthusiastic approach.
The role
With responsibility for the day-to-day running and management of the Palace, as an official residence and visitor attraction, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the appropriate balance is maintained between the different uses of the Palace; ensuring that it is appropriately prepared and presented for all State, official and private functions as well as continuing the process of enhancing public access to the Pa! lace, The Queen's Gallery and objects from the Royal Collectio! n held within.
The postholder will also:
- Have a proven ability to lead, manage and develop effectively a diverse team;
- Have excellent planning, project-management and organisation skills, experience of budget management; and an ability and willingness to contribute and deliver at both strategic and operational levels;
- Have the drive and desire to lead change and contribute to new ways of working, ensuring the highest standards of service and presentation are achieved and a process of continuous improvement is maintained;
- Possess excellent communication skills and the gravitas to influence at all levels; act as a key liaison point for multiple stakeholders, managing matrix relationships in a collaborative and inclusive manner;
- Have proven, sound business acumen, ideally having had experience of working at a senior level in a major tourist attraction or within a commercially driven customer-facing environment.
