LifeScan Scotland was created in 2001 when Johnson & Johnson acquired th! e UK assets of Inverness Medical Ltd, a medical device company established in Inverness in 1995 to design and manufacture glucose test strips, and design electronic meters for the global diabetes market. Around 1,100 people are employed at the Inverness facility, which is regarded as a centre of excellence for those working in the field of diabetes.
With a focus on future development, LifeScan is committed to "creating a world without limits for people with diabetes." LifeScan Scotland's main product range includes the popular OneTouch® Brand of blood glucose monitoring systems, which is available globally. The company has also developed diabetes management software, control solutions and lancing devices and, in addition, produces the specialist test strips that work with many of the meters in the OneTouch Brand line.
LifeScan Scotland is pleased to be able to offer a 4 year Engineering Apprenticeship Programme. There are 3 fantastic opportunities to gain! valuable, practical knowledge and skills whilst being paid a ! salary.
Working closely with the University of Highlands and Islands and SEMTA (Science, Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies Alliance), where you can kick start your career, learning new skills in a fast paced and exciting environment.
As well as on the job training and personal development, this 4 year apprentice-training programme will result in the attainment of an NVQ and an HNC in an Engineering discipline. There is also the option to carry on your studies to attain a Degree.
Key Dates:
- Advert closes 20th May
- Candidates informed of outcome of their application beginning of June
- Assessment Centres will be held the end of June and the beginning of July
- Final Decision by the end of July
- Programme will commence in August
The ideal candidate will:
- Committed to working hard and pushing themselves to learn and grow
- Ideally we a! re looking for candidates to have Higher passes in Maths & Physics
- Have good communication and team working skills
- Have a basic understanding of Engineering principals
