We are currently seeking applications for B1, B2, and C1 Statisticians in Edin! burgh and Glasgow. These posts are situated across a range of Directorates within the Scottish Government and in other government departments including National Records of Scotland.
Our statisticians work across a wide range of areas and cover many different topics; including Scotland’s economy and employment levels; the health of our nation and the NHS; Educational attainment; Justice; Communities and Transport. Our statisticians are involved in planning and managing data collections, undertaking statistical analysis, preparing statistical outputs and publications and working with users and providers to ensure statistical needs are met efficiently and effectively. Our statisticians also work closely with researchers and economists to add value to government decision making and support the development of Government policies.
Qualifications & Experience Required
To allow for a satisfactory knowledge of the statistical techniques required for thes! e posts, candidates must hold a first or second class honours ! degree in a statistical or strong numerate discipline. For B2 and C1 Grade posts you will also require a proven employment record where you have gained relevant and practical experience of a wide range of statistical competencies and skills. In addition, C1 Grade posts require a greater level of management and leadership experience. The successful candidates must be able to provide demonstrable evidence of their skills and experience across the competencies that are listed in the Person Specification.
