Job summary
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking and dynamic integrated safeguarding team at an Acute Trust as the Named Professional for Safeguarding Children. Working with the Associate and Deputy Associate Directors of Safeguarding the post holder will collaborate with members of the Trust Integrated Safeguarding service, internal Divisions and wider multi-agency partners to ensure the fulfillment of the Trusts statutory duties under safeguarding, delivery of the system Safeguarding Partnership objectives, the Trust Safeguarding Strategy, and completion of the annual operational work and audit plans. Your actions would ensure the Trust provides a highly responsive and effective safeguarding services that result in making children safer.

The role provides expert advice on complex and challenging safeguarding situations. Working in partnership with the other Trust Named Safeguarding Professionals, safeguarding operational leads and other internal and external stakeholders, the post holder will ensure the organization provides an effective service to safeguard all vulnerable children, young people and their families within our care.The role will provide Trust professional leadership, policy guidance development, and support for all staff providing care to children and young people in relation to safeguarding considering their duty under all relevant legislation relevant to England.
The post holder will work in collaboration with the Safeguarding Partnerships in Swindon and Wiltshire, contributing to policy and practice development, quality assurance work, and will ensure review learning is brought back to the Trust and disseminated to effect culture and practice change.
The post holder will ensure that safeguarding provision continues to develop according to need and is delivered in an evidence-based, child/family focused manner in accordance with the National and Statutory Safeguarding agendas.

The team consists of Named Professionals and operational leads in the specialties of adult, maternity and children's safeguarding but also includes Mental Capacity Act leads and learning Disability Liaison nurses. The team works collaboratively and supportively in managing complex and at times emotive work and works in an increasingly integrated way.
