The Power Distribution Future Networks team at SSE is building an innovative and inspiring team of pe! ople to design and deliver original solutions to issues faced by UK networks. Our principal aim is to identify, develop and trial innovations for improving efficiency, decarbonising UK networks and integrating renewable generation, with a focus on translation into business benefits as quickly and efficiently as possible.
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Management Accountant in Power Systems Finance to support Future Networks. Reporting to the Distribution Finance Manager, you will be responsible for all accounting duties for the projects undertaken by Future Networks (Approx 60 projects with a total value of £75M).
Your role will be to identify optimum set up and reporting arrangements with Project Managers and ensure compliance with SSE accounting and reporting requirements, in addition to the reporting requirements of funding organisations. You will provide support to the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting, as well as reporting to O! FGEM.
Using your analytical approach, you will be abl! e to critically examine processes and systems and implement required changes, specifically focusing on (a) project set up and close down; (b) financial management of project during its lifecycle; (c) invoice management; and (d) time capture process for staff and contractors.
Your strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills will come into play when liaising with Project Managers, non-finance staff and external funding bodies.
We are looking for a qualified Accountant or someone at the later stages of gaining a recognised CCAB Accounting qualification, fully-experienced in budget and forecasting preparation activities. You will have good working knowledge of Project Accounting systems (preferably Oracle based systems) and reporting tools, as well as being highly-skilled in Excel.
