Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is the second largest fire service in the country, covering nearly 500 square miles, with a population of over 2.5 million people. Within that area we have a buildings and estates portfolio of 41 fire stations and 186 buildings, on 44 sites.
The maintenance, refurbishment, safety, inspection and growth of this portfolio to a high standard are all key to the excellent service we provide. To ensure this, we are looking to appoint an experienced, proactive, self-motivated individual to lead our team and help us provide an efficient estates service for our entire portfolio.
Working within the Estates and Facilities department your key responsibilities will include the effective delivery of services to satisfy business requirements. This will include supervising external contractors working on site, and having accountability for the day-to-day management! of a team of Direct Labour Operatives. You will also particip! ate in major projects, and service contracts evaluating their implementation benefits and efficiency within the overall Estates and Facilities strategy.
You will need:
 IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
 HNC/HND in Building Studies (or equivalent)
 Experience of:
o Property management including annual maintenance prgrammes
o Supervision of both in-house and contract staff
o Specification and quotation preparation
o Working with forms of contract
o Working with KPIs and SLAs
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Ability to manage your own workload and those of others
 Strong decision making and problem solving skills
 Excellent planning and organisational skills
This is a varied and challenging role. One where you will be working in a fast-moving pressurised environment where delivery and results really matte! r. But more than that, you will be making a real difference to the safety of the communities within Greater Manchester.
